FOOD BANK MOBILE MARKET UPDATE
Woodcrest volunteers and friends served 145 households at the mobile market event on June 16. Neighbors received sliced ham, Beyond Beef burgers, fresh collard greens and herbs, snack kits with meat sticks, cheese, and fruit, pears, popcorn, and bouquets of flowers.
The Elks Lodge mobile market where we serve is now the only mobile market operating in Columbia which allows neighbors to drive through to receive items which help boost their food resources each month. We would love to have you join us in serving at the next mobile market on July 21.
LAST SUNDAY'S INSIGHTS
Kelly Wright continued our journey through Philippians by exploring Paul's call to keep pressing forward. Using the image of a joyride, she reminded us that many of us become spiritually parked in regret, disappointment, comparison, comfort, or nostalgia. Paul's challenge is not to ignore the past, but to refuse to let it define our future as we pursue Jesus with passion, purpose, and eternal perspective.
Highlights
• Paul's command to "forget what is behind" is not about denial or amnesia. It is about refusing to let past failures, wounds, or accomplishments keep us from moving forward.
• We often get stuck in spiritual garages of regret, disappointment, comparison, comfort, or living in the "good old days" instead of embracing what God is doing today.
• Healing requires honesty. We must acknowledge our past, grieve what needs grieving, receive God's forgiveness, and allow Him to transform what has shaped us.
• Spiritual growth happens when we keep our eyes fixed on Jesus. Whatever captures our attention will eventually influence our direction.
• God designed the Christian life to be lived in community. We need mentors, friends, and fellow believers who help us stay focused on Christ and continue growing in faith.
• Our citizenship is in heaven. Remembering our ultimate destination changes how we live, endure hardship, spend our time, and pursue what matters most.
Takeaway
Jesus did not take hold of us so we could remain parked in the garage. He calls us to keep moving forward, trusting His grace, learning from our past, and fixing our eyes on the future He has prepared. There is joy on the journey when Jesus is the destination.
