SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 22, 2026
Lately, we’ve been looking at cautionary tales from Scripture to help us learn to move again—to go when the light is green, to wait when God gives a yellow light, and to stop when the light is red. These stories aren’t meant to entertain us. They’re meant to interrupt us.
This week, we dive deeper into the story of King Saul and David. At first glance, it can seem like a simple contrast between a villain and a hero, a bad king and a good one. But in reality, it’s the story of two kings; both chosen and anointed by God, both deeply flawed.
Join us as we watch how Saul and David respond very differently when God begins to move in ways they cannot control.
MONTHLY UPDATE WITH THE ELDERS
You are invited to stay after the service this Sunday for news and updates on what is happening around our church.
We will gather in the auditorium approximately 10 minutes after the service ends. Please plan to pick up children promptly so our Kidcrest staff and volunteers can join us. Children are welcome to attend with their families.
We will share updates on the co-pastor search process, plans for Kidcrest remodeling, financial results for 2025, and respond to questions submitted by the congregation. There is good news to share, and we hope you will join us.
OUTSIDE THE WALLS
Woodcrest volunteers served 120 families at the Food Bank Mobile Market on February 17. The Food Bank provided ground beef, potatoes, bread, coffee, and a wide variety of snacks. Our neighbors were deeply appreciative of the support for their families.
Save the date for our next Mobile Market opportunity on March 17.

LAST WEEK’S INSIGHTS
Last Sunday, Matt continued our Learning to Move Again series by confronting a quiet joy-killer: nostalgia. He challenged us to be wise and charitable “among outsiders,” especially online, and showed how getting stuck looking backward can erode joy. And when joy goes, so does strength.
Communion framed the entire message as a reminder that we live from what God has done and trust in what He will do.
Watch here
Highlights:
• Watch your public witness. Social media is “among outsiders.”
• Nostalgia can stall you. The “again” impulse can romanticize the past, sour the present, and keep you from moving forward with God.
• Israel misremembered Egypt. In the wilderness, they longed for a past that was never truly “the good old days.”
• Lot’s wife is a caution sign. Looking back with longing can become a kind of paralysis.
• Time travel with God on purpose. Remember His faithfulness in the past and anchor hope in His promises for the future so you can live with peace and joy now.
• Communion ties the tenses together. We look back at the cross, forward to resurrection hope, and live present-tense with strength and love.
THE TAKEAWAY
Nostalgia can masquerade as wisdom, but it quietly steals joy—and joy is strength. Remember what God has done, trust what He will do, and move forward with Him now.
