Have you ever felt stuck?

Stuck in regret, disappointment, comparing your life to others?

This week as we continue our joyride through Philippians, Paul reminds us that the Christian life was never meant to be lived in park or reverse, it was meant to be lived in drive. Even while writing from prison, Paul challenges believers to keep pressing forward toward Jesus with passion, purpose, and eternal perspective.

Join us as we discover how joy grows when we stop living in the past, stay focused on what matters most, and pursue Jesus with all our hearts.

There is joy on the journey when Jesus is the destination.

ELDER BOARD AFFIRMATION
We are pleased to present Marilee Bomar for congregational affirmation as a member of the Elder Board. Marilee and her husband, John, have been attending Woodcrest Chapel since 1998.

After four decades as a nurse, Marilee retired in April 2026. She earned her master’s degree in 1998 and spent her career at the University of Missouri serving in rehabilitation, research, education, care coordination, and leadership roles within outpatient primary care teams. She also authored articles for a health journal, assisted in writing medical-legal briefs, and served on numerous committees both at MU and in the community.

In retirement, Marilee enjoys finding meaningful ways to give back to the church and community. She values time spent with family and friends, good conversations over coffee or lunch, and life with her husband and their beloved pets. Marilee and John live just outside Columbia, where they hope to build their dream home. Together, they also volunteer to transport rescue dogs to their new homes.

Marilee has been actively involved at Woodcrest for many years through teaching, hospitality, and other ministry opportunities. She previously served on the Elder Board and currently serves as the facilitator of Prime Timers, our 55+ ministry, and as a member of the Discipleship and Communications Team.

If you have questions, affirmations, or concerns, please contact the Elder Board via email. Copies of Marilee’s full bio are available at the Welcome Center.

Thank you for your prayers and support as we seek God’s guidance in this process.

LAST SUNDAY'S INSIGHTS
Matt Gordon continued our journey through Philippians by exploring chapter 3 and reminding us that the Christian life is rooted in what Christ has already done, shaped by what He is doing now, and moving toward the hope that is still to come. Paul’s message challenged us to stop building our identity on achievement, performance, or religious credentials and instead find our joy and security in Christ alone.

Highlights
• Paul warns believers to "watch out" for anything that competes with Christ as the source of our identity and joy. What promises life can often become a source of bondage.
• Religious performance cannot save us. Paul's impressive spiritual résumé was ultimately worthless compared to the surpassing value of knowing Jesus.
• Salvation is not earned through effort. Christ has already accomplished what we could never accomplish for ourselves.
• The Christian life is a process of growth. We are called to keep pressing forward, trusting that God is continuing His work in us.
• Spiritual maturity is not about perfection. It is about faithfully taking the next step, encouraging one another, and refusing to settle for yesterday's victories.
• The goal is not merely getting to heaven one day. The goal is learning to live the resurrection life now, reflecting Christ in a world that desperately needs hope.

Takeaway
The gospel is not about proving ourselves to God. It is about trusting what Jesus has already done and then pressing forward into the life He has called us to live. As followers of Christ, we are invited to leave behind confidence in ourselves, embrace the ongoing work of transformation, and run with joy toward the future God has prepared for us.
