SUNDAY, MAY 17, 2026
This week, we’ll continue on in Philippians 2 and continue a back-and-forth between the complex and the complicated, the left hemisphere of the mind and the right, the individual responsibility and the community aspiration. Also, we’ll consider what it is to be a “star.” Most of us grow up wanting to stand out, to be some kind of famous. In Philippians 2, Paul shares that God actually has that plan in mind for us too, but maybe not quite in the way we think. It should be a good conversation. Hope to see you there!

COMMUNION THIS SUNDAY
This Sunday, we will gather around the table together for Communion. In the middle of busy weeks, distractions, and all the noise of life, Communion invites us to slow down and remember the center of our faith: the body and blood of Christ given for us.

Whether you join us in person or online, we invite you to come with open hands and an open heart as we remember God’s grace together.

OUTSIDE THE WALLS
We need your help with the next Food Bank Mobile Market. It will be held on May 19 at the Elks Lodge. Volunteers are needed from 2:45–5:30 PM to help direct traffic, register neighbors, sort and bag groceries, and load vehicles.

If you have questions, contact Sherry or please register here.

LAST SUNDAY'S INSIGHTS
Kelly Wright, joined by her son Micah, continued the Philippians series with a Mother's Day message on where real joy comes from. Reflecting on the season twenty-three years ago when Micah was diagnosed with a blood disorder, they showed how Paul could write about joy from prison and how that same joy is still within reach today.

Highlights

  • Paul wasn't a "super Christian." He fought for joy daily, shaped by the Psalms, especially Psalm 16.

  • Joy is found in God's presence. Presence doesn't change the situation, but it changes how we experience it.

  • Joy is formed through honest processing. Feelings aren't right or wrong, but unprocessed feelings give the enemy a foothold.

  • Joy is rooted in being deeply loved. "Beloved" simply means "be loved," and there is nothing we can do to earn it.

  • Romans 8 reminds us that nothing can separate us from God's love in Christ.

Takeaway
Joy doesn't arrive when life gets easier. It shows up in the middle of the hard, because God is near, His love doesn't move, and His presence is where fullness of joy is found.
