Recovery
Recovery classes meet on Monday evenings from 6:30 - 8:30 at the Jefferson City Campus or on Thursday evenings from 7:00 - 9:00 on the Columbia campus addressing emotional health and addiction needs. Some classes meet for 12 weeks during the fall and spring semester, while others are year-round.
Classes in Columbia:
The Fall semester runs September 16 - December 9.
New members must attend orientation on September 2 or 9.
Cost: $35 per semester
Childcare is available for $35 per child.
Note: The following classes for women are already full - Making Peace with Your Past, Conquering Codependency, Shelter from the Storm. Please consider our LifeSkills class for this Fall semester.
A variety of classes are offered, including:
- Making Peace with Your Past will help you identify ways your past affects you today and help you develop a sense of hope and healing.
- Moving Beyond Your Past is a follow-up to Making Peace with Your Past that encourages you to take responsibility for your own wholeness. Prerequisite: Making Peace with Your Past
- Conquering Codependency is a Christ-centered 12-step process which will help you recognize and move away from the codependent compulsion to fix every person and situation in your life. Prerequisite: Making Peace with Your Past
- DivorceCare is a 12-week course that helps you recover from the hurt of separation and divorce. No Prerequisite; Mixed Gender participation.Each session includes a video presentation and a small break-out-group discussion.
- Shelter from the Storm offers hope and healing for women who have been victims of sexual abuse. Prerequisite: Making Peace with Your Past
- Wounded Heart offers hope and healing for men who have been victims of sexual abuse. Prerequisite: Making Peace with Your Past
- 12 Step Substance Abuse Groups will provide you and your family with accountability through sponsorship and group meetings as you recover from alcohol and substance addiction. The only requirement is a desire to live a chemical free life.
- Grief Share is a special group for those grieving the loss of someone close. This group is sposored by people who understand what you are experiencing and to offer you comfort and encouragement during this difficult time. Each session includes a video presentation and a small break-out-group discussion.
Life Skills will help you understand some of the regular and recurring emotional issues of life that get in the way of you experiencing all that God intends you to be.We all expect more from life. But we often find ourselves stuck in the same old ruts, habits, and relational difficulties. There is hope! In this 12 week class you’ll explore the filters through which you view God, yourself and others, and learn practical steps you can take toward experiencing a life of joy and fulfillment. Some of the topics that will be discussed are.... “The Impact of Your Past on Your Present and Future”, “Dealing with Depression and Anxiety”, “Conflict Negotiation Skills”, “The Power of a Purpose”.
